POLICY ON SIBLING PARTICIPATION IN SCOUTING ACTIVITIES
INTRODUCTION
It is recognized that family participation in Scouting is an essential part of the Scouting Program. Sibling attendance at certain Troop activities and functions, such as Courts of Honor and Family Dinners, is welcome. Participation in Scouting activities is conducted in compliance with the most current edition of the Guide to Safe Scouting. Participation in Scouting Activities is also conducted in a manner consistent with the most current guidelines for Age Appropriate Activities for Scouting. At meetings and other activities, the Scouts must be able to focus on the task at hand without regard to accommodation for siblings and interruption caused by siblings.
POLICY
The Troop does not support or condone the attendance of siblings at the regular Monday meetings.
The Troop does not support or condone the participation of siblings in other Scout activities, including but not necessarily limited to, activities such as Service Projects or Fund Raisers.
The Troop does not support or condone the attendance of siblings on any outings that require a Local or National Trip Permit.
The sole exception to this policy is for siblings that are registered Webelos Scouts. Siblings that are registered Webelos Scouts may attend meetings or events only with the prior approval of the Troop Committee in consultation with the Scoutmaster. Such approval must be sought with sufficient lead time to: 1) determine the nature of the activity and the involvement of the Webelos Scout with respect to the Guide for Safe Scouting and the guidelines for Age Appropriate Activities for Scouting, and, 2) if deemed necessary, consult with other Scouting resources.
For the Troop Committee,
